60gram Calendula Salve
Contains: Calendula, Olive Oil & Beeswax
The Calendula flower (C. Officinalis) contains strong antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties making it one of my favourite herbs to use in salves. The properties of this orange blossom increase blood flow to affected areas promoting faster healing. This salve is so gentle, yet so effective it can be used on a wide range of skin injuries from nappy rash and cracked nipples to burns, scratches and insect bites.
In the Garden
Calendula is such a delight to grow and have in the garden, while not everyone is a fan of orange, once you learn how truly miraculous this fast growing annual is it will bring great pleasure seeing their bursts of fire in your garden. Calendula makes a fantastic companion plant, I think of it as a trap plant. Aphids will leave your veggies alone if you plant Calendula among them, as the aphids will favour it above your crops. The only insect that loves Calendula more than the aphids, are the bees, and they are always welcome. While it is technically a summer annual, it can be found in my garden all year round.
After a long day in the garden there will always be a cut, gash or scratches that have become red and angry already, this salve is what I turn to, the inflammation calms down within minutes and come morning I am always amazed.
